Getting Around Split – The Residence of a Retired Roman Emperor

There are a number of international flights to Split airport from around Europe. Many people come to experience the varied wonders of Split, and Croatia as a whole each year, and it is no wonder, with the many sunshine hours, mild temperatures, picturesque scenery and fascinating historic and cultural sights on offer. Split Airport is second only to Zagreb airport in Croatia and sees many people flow through it, especially in the summer, when the number of visitors increases dramatically. In summer, charter flights from around Europe swell the number of scheduled flights to the country.

Getting to Split from Split Airport

The Airport is actually about 25 km west of the city itself, close to the town of Trogir. Fortunately, it is very easy to get to and from Split airport with taxi transfer, a popular option among tourists and there are public transport options like buses also available. Airport buses run from the terminal to Split city centre – they stop at the east end of ‘Riva’ and the fare is around 30 kn. Local buses also run from the public road just outside the airport and are a cheaper option, though you must change buses to get all the way to the historic centre and they can be a little hit and miss, so it is almost certainly not worth it for the casual tourist.

Transportation options

A taxi from the airport to the ferry port or Diocletian’s Palace in the centre of old Split will take around 30 minutes and should cost around 270 kn, though drivers will often agree to 220 kn if you agree a price up front. Pre-booking a taxi is often a good idea as you will often get a better price doing it this way. A Split airport taxi transfer will also ensure that you are able to meet your return flight, if you are not happy to rely on public transport, or if your plane leaves in the middle of the night, when buses do not run.

Diocletian’s palace

It is easy to get around the historic centre on foot, and this is indeed the best way to see it. Walk around the harbour area, Diocletian’s palace and the old town’s maze of streets. It is also a good move to rent a bike and use that to transport yourself up Marjan’s hill, along the Riva (waterfront of Split) and even out on the ferries onto the islands in the Adriatic if you so wish. Buses will take you from Split’s historic centre to any of the more modern outlying districts that you may wish to visit.

Excursions from Split

Outlying attractions can easily be visited by bus or car. Be sure to take the opportunity during your stay to visit the castle villages of Kastela, and the Roman city of Salona, both of which can be reached by bus, taxi or under your own steam if you choose to hire a car. It is worth noting that if you buy your bus ticket from a kiosk rather than from the driver on the bus, then it is a little cheaper. If you are going to spend more than just a few days in Split, it is recommended to take a short bus trip to the vibrant and relaxing Vodice, where you can enjoy the famous Blue Beach and party in the evening.

Thailand is a great destination, consisting of a little bit of something for everyone, regardless of whether they are a luxury traveler or adventurist. Whatever you thought of it, it is bound to exceed your expectations: Thailand is a country similar in size to Spain, and with its 66 million inhabitants, it is one of the 20 most populated countries in the world. We are going to try and write a bucket list worthy of this cultural giant, but it may seem a bit short and incomplete, and we apologize in advance. One would have to write a several novels in order to fit in all the amazing things you could do in Thailand.

First things first, The Grand Palace. It was built in 1782 and has been home to the King of Thailand and his royal court for almost 150 years. This magnificent structure tells the tale of an indigenous culture, the only one never to be colonized by the Europeans, developed in the heart of the Malaysian peninsula – it is just as fascinating today as was in its earliest stages. It is truly a monument to the architecture and craftsmanship of the Thai. Its great walls hold the war ministry, state departments, and even the mint. Administrative centers of the country that are open to the public are a rarity, and it would be a shame to miss out on such a beautiful one.

One of the first things tourists do when they visiting other countries and cultures is hit the markets to see the local goods and try their hand at bartering. What makes this practice even more fun in Thailand is the fact that some markets float on the rivers. These curious floating markets consist of boats piled with tropical fruit and vegetables, fresh coconut juice and a colorful palette of local food. A spectacle that you would probably never find again in the world, and an attraction for all senses, Thailand’s floating markets are the definite crème de la crème of the country.

The next on our list are the Phi Phi Islands. They are some of the most beautiful islands in the entire south-eastern Asia, and naturally, Thailand’s big tourist spot. Staying in the Phi Phi Islands might be too dramatic for most people, with the amount of traffic they get, but for the most relaxing, yet involved and gorgeous holiday, move to an amazing place somewhere on the mainland. Phuket is a good choice, with the ferryboat ride from there to the Phi Phis being 90 minutes of heaven. Getting to your destination, you will immediately start experiencing the perfection of life inside a postcard. It definitely is worth paying a visit.

Thailand is an exotic location near the equator, with beautiful weather, pristine beaches, and a sunny disposition. Everything is strange and spicy in this country, from the exquisite cuisine that has made its rounds in the world’s most prestige restaurants to the pleasant cultural shock all visitors are bound to discover. It’s celebrated on the 2nd Saturday of March at Boulevard November 1st, located in Puntacana Village, opposite The Punta Cana International Airport. The celebration begins with a parade of international delegations from Aruba, Curacao, Haiti and Saint Martin, as well as a selection of the very best from the Dominican Republic.

The parade features more than fifteen of the top carnival troupes and is alive with colorful costumes and masks to showcase the cultural traditions and folklore of the country to thousands of locals and tourists from around the world. A live concert features music styles such as merengue, bachata and reggaeton marked the official end of Carnaval.

Entrance to the Punta Cana Carnaval is free, but tickets to sit on a stage during the event are available for purchase.

We are great and we are many, from all the lands on Earth we come. Aren’t you lucky to be an Australia. Living in one of the most prosperous countries, with some of the most laid back people on the planet. That’s not actually surprising considering you live in one of the most beautiful places on this planet. Surrounded by oceans, you can surf away your problems any time of day. But what about other recreational sports? You might also enjoy sailing perhaps. And luckily for you, there are so many beautiful places where you can sail of to for a bit of rest and relaxation. The land of Lord of the Rings might be a bit to far off, but there are many other places much closer you can visit.

Aussies as known in the world for their curiosity and bold exploration of the world. If you are an adventurous soul yourself, you might feel tempted to go and seek what the world has to give you.
