Nasi Padang is proof of the Indonesian culture that influences culinary tradition in Singapore. Although only has small stall, Lim Kee offers delicious, creamy and crunchy banana fritters made only from a type of banana called ‘pisang raja,’ which has creamy texture and natural sweetness. However, you can also find other delights such as green bean fritters. They are very cheap snacks to accompany your Singapore adventure.
- Uncle Ice Cream
Uncle Ice Cream is a nickname for ice cream sold from simple carts by (usually) senior citizens around Orchard Road; ‘uncle’ is a call for the male sellers and ‘auntie’ for females. Uncle Ice Cream is basically handmade ice cream sells in a cup, cone, and the most popular sandwich ice cream, which is an ice cream block between two slices of bread. The ice cream comes in flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, durian, mint, and many more.
- Killiney Kopitiam
Killiney Kopitiam often becomes favorite venue to find cheap breakfast. Favorite combinations are simple but very hearty: thick coffee or tea (with milk or not), eggs and bread slices with kaya, a type of sweet and soft spread made of eggs, pandan leaf and coconut milk.
